This famous 14th Century inn was once a renowned meeting place for smugglers in times gone by. Oak beams and open fires offer mellow reminders of the past and create an intimate atmosphere in the bar. Set in the heart of theSouth Downs, there are many fine walks, with the South Downs Way passing right by the door of the inn. There is also easy access to both Brighton and Eastbourne.

The Star Inn has 37 bedrooms, 3 feature rooms all with private facilities including room service, hairdryer and trouser press. Subject to availability families can be catered for with extra beds in some rooms. (There is a charge for this facility.

The Capella Restaurant serves a daily changing table d'hote menu and in the lounge and bar and a lighter selection of meals is also available.
